About
McGovern Agency

Mother-Daughter Insurance Team

Since 2017, our mother-daughter team has been dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of insurance. We specialize in health insurance, including Medicare and Marketplace plans, with a deepened focus on Medicare since 2019 when Maureen’s husband approached his own enrollment.

In addition to health insurance, we offer many other types of insurance products, including home, auto, and business insurance, providing comprehensive coverage solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.

Our team also includes Maureen’s sister Pat, our Client Experience Specialist, who ensures exceptional service and support for our clients.

With homes in both Lexington and Clinton Township, we are deeply committed to our communities. We actively volunteer with Optimist International, America’s Thanksgiving Parade, the Village of Lexington, and the Lexington Business Association. Additionally, we proudly support various charitable organizations and local events.

As trusted advisors, we are passionate about guiding our clients to the right insurance solutions with care, knowledge, and a personal touch.

Meet the Team

Maureen Wark

Agent

Maureen is an experienced insurance agent who has been helping clients navigate their coverage options since 2014, with a focus on Medicare plans since 2018. She believes in building strong relationships with her clients and serving as a trusted advisor in their insurance decisions.

Born and raised in St. Clair Shores, MI, Maureen graduated from Lakeview High School in 1985. She now splits her time between her homes in Clinton Township, MI, and Lexington, MI, where she enjoys walking by the water in search of unique rocks.

A proud dog mom to three lovable Goldendoodles, Maureen has a deep appreciation for her community and is committed to giving back. She serves as a board member of the Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores, volunteers with America’s Thanksgiving Parade, is an active member of the Lexington Business Association, and lends a hand with events in the Village of Lexington.

Maureen’s personality shines through in everything she does, whether she’s helping a client, supporting a local event, or bringing joy to those around her. She’s well known for her love of dressing up in fun costumes, and while many have seen her as a hotdog or other characters, only a select few know that she secretly dreams of driving a monster truck one day.

Shannon Hewitt

Agent

I grew up in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Believe it or not, insurance has not always been my passion. I earned my Bachelor’s of Science degree at Oakland University and am a Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist who loves blood and bacteria. However, I have been in the insurance agency since 2017 – I love it because I enjoy meeting new people and I love our customers.

I also love dogs, old-school video games, trying new beers and seltzers, and 80s music. When I’m not at work I like to go to craft beer festivals and find somewhere to listen to live music.

I volunteer with The Parade Company and have been in the Thanksgiving Parade since I was in high school. I have also been known to dress up in an apple pie costume at miscellaneous parade events!

Patricia O’Callaghan

Customer Experience Specialist

I grew up in St. Clair Shores and graduated from Lakeview High School and Wayne State University. I then worked in the banking industry for 35+ years in various capacities, mainly as a Senior Training Specialist. One of my favorite courses to teach was Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations and the course material has really helped prepare me for my role at McGovern Agency!

I am married with four children and a new rescue kitten named Ivy. When I’m not at the office, I enjoy daily walks at the local park, reading, gardening, and looking for that “special rock!”

Colt Wark

Office Sage

I was born in St. Charles, MI on February 17th, 2013. I have been working at the agency on and off since 2018 but started coming to the office every day in 2020. I love learning about insurance and sharing my knowledge with others. I also get super excited whenever a customer comes into the office and I make sure to let them know by making lots of friendly noise!

I love comfy furniture, snow, and facts…lots of facts. I like to share a fun fact every month! I also like to play outside and then spend my evenings cuddling with my mom while watching Hallmark movies.

I have brothers but what you might not know about me is that I am not the oldest brother, even if I am the biggest.

Copper Wark

Agency Mascot

I was born in Saint Charles, MI on February 7th, 2013. I have been working at the agency on and off since 2018 but started coming to the office every day in 2020.

I love when new customers come in because they give me lots of pets and I make them smile! I love soft blankets, warm sweaters, and tons of attention. I also like to snuggle socks and take my brothers’ toys when they aren’t looking… shhhh!

When I’m not at the office, you can usually find me inside on the couch… I don’t like cold or rainy weather.

Charlie Wark

Office Clown/ Employee of the Month 3 Years in a Row

I was born in Saint Charles, MI on December 23rd, 2017, and I have been working at the agency my whole life! I try to jump really high so I can see when customers come in because I’m much shorter than my brothers, but I like to greet people too. Some of them even bring me treats!

I love stealing shoes, empty water bottles, really anything I can get my paws on, it really keeps my family on their toes. I also LOVE telling jokes (the cheesier the better). I like to share one of my favorite jokes each month!

When you see me, you might not know that I really am a Goldendoodle even if I don’t look like my brothers.

When I’m not at the office, I love to play outside, especially in the snow! Then I come inside and lay down in my favorite spot on the floor by the fireplace.

Bruce Hewitt

Official Greeter

I was born in Britton, MI, on January 1st, 2022.

I have been working at the agency 2-3 days a week since March of 2022. I love greeting every customer and popping up at the door so I can say “Hi!” Sometimes I startle unsuspecting visitors because they don’t realize how tall I am, but I am very friendly.

I love running around, playing tug of war, and brain teasers! Every once in a while, I’ll share one of my favorite brain teasers with everyone. Something you might not know about me is that I am not a Goldendoodle like the others, I am actually a Newfoundland-Poodle mix, or as I like to call myself, a Newdle.
