Thinking about all the delicious Thanksgiving food is sure to get your mouth watering, but here are some alarming facts for you to keep in mind this year.

Did you know that more cooking fires happen on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year?
- It’s true and it’s largely due to distracted cooks.
Many Americans choose to deep fry their turkeys, but doing it incorrectly could lead to damage to both themselves and their property!
- “Fires caused by deep fryers cause an average of 5 deaths, 60 injuries, and over $15 million in property damage each year.”
  - Well, that’s just terrifying!
What if your home gets damaged from a Thanksgiving accident? Is it covered?
- The short answer is yes, depending on your limits of coverage.
- Is your house insured to its full replacement cost? This is not market value, but the amount it would cost to repair or rebuild, taking into consideration the cost of materials, labor, etc.
- Are you cooking your turkey in a detached garage or shed?
  - These buildings are covered by your limit for “Other Structures.”
